I adopted cookie from the Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control weeks before Christmas in 2012. She was a kitten then and very shy. It took her some time to warm up to everyone and feel at home with the family. She was a bicolor (more white than black but her markings we were such that it appeared as if someone had hand painted the black accents on her. She had back capped ears and the way it reached her eyes made it appear as if someone had given her winged eyeliner. She had two spots on her back that if you traced your finger in her coat from the back of her to the front of her they would form two hearts. Her fur was thick and although a smooth coat she had an undercoat that was thick like angora and the shedding! I could have knit another cat with her shed fur. Her meow was a dainty one. Not very loud but if she needed to say something we all listened. Her favorite spot was on the back of the sofa looking out the picture window for birds. She had a particular preference for only one type of wet cat food and after the supply chain issues it became almost a challenge to find it but I found ways to get it so she saw no interruptions in her diet. Chewy was eventually the supplier of both her wet and dry food after the supply chain was restored. She loved sitting in my husband’s or son’s laps for quiet time in the early mornings or evenings. Her favorite toys were wand toys that allowed her to track and chase. She loved the feathered ones, one that looked like a spinning fishing lure (without hooks), this little chenille bee on a string that if I danced it around my legs she would lay down and box it at my ankles. What sparked her interest was auditory clues without a clear sight as to what was going on. So often I would set up a box in a chair and wing the toy on the wand into the box and let it shuffle around. She loved a good mystery and was eager to investigate. She was my work companion Monday through Friday and would sit nearby listening to the latest audio book or music I was spinning. She would sit closer if it was Wilco, some smooth Jazz or Music for Cats. She had her favorites. Although she disliked the vet visits, she was always so sweet with all of the techs and doctors. She tried to hide behind items on the counter that were clearly not hiding her well.

We are so very grateful to have what time we had with her and we are very appreciative of how well she was cared for at Frey.
